Round 8, the second final round of the 2016 MDTC Cheap Car Challenge Series was held on Sunday 25th September. Welcoming a full field, way before entry closing date, some new teams eager to join in the fun of this affordable class of Motorsport Endurance Event created by Garry Willmington and the MDTC Team.
This event is an affordable yet competitive enduro to not only introduce new drivers into Motorsport including the ladies and those with no previous Motorsport Experience, but is seeing some very experienced Motorsport competitors join in and have some fun in the 4 hour endurance at MDTC. Some would call them veterans of Motorsport, but we call them Legends and MDTC were thrilled to have them be part of Round 8. Bruce Stewart joining in with Darren Stewart ‘s entry Nissan Pulsar “Just 4 Laughs” with co drivers Ben Ruggles and Brad May finding themselves taking the final position on the podium in 5th place. Harry, Alf and Scott Bargwanna joined in with the Jordan Cox entry Hyundai Excel “Team name TBA” but unfortunately resulting a DNF. 40 odd year veteran and comical Richard Mork had so much fun at Round 7 that he came back for Round 8 in the Hyundai Excel Team appropriately named “The Old Legends” teaming with Peter and Paul Bink and Shane Carlson. Morky is in pole position with his entries and has already secured his spot for the October and November events. There is never a dull moment and plenty of stories when Morky’s around!
The finishing results seen “Sellos Racing” – Entrant Nic Cortese take 1st Place in the Honda Integra, “French Resistance” – Entrant Matthew Buonasera in 2nd Place in the Peugeot 206GTi,” Scuderia Itsabitsi Corse” – Entrant Gordon Wilson in 3rd Place in the Mitsubishi Lancer, “Cheap Car County Sheriffs” – Entrant Glenn Mitchell in 4th Place in the Honda Integra and in 5th Place “Just 4 Laughs” – Entrant Darren Stewart in the Nissan Pulsar.

Round 3 of the 2016 Time Trial Series was held @ MDTC on Sunday 22nd May.

Brilliant weather and a 25 car field of entrants for Round 2 including our regulars who have their eye on being the Series Champion and some new entrants who could possibly make their way up the ladder securing podium placings in the regularity event.
The final session for the day left not a lot of difference in points in some of the group placings.
Being consistent is the aim of the game and Phil Anson, Ryan Mee, Sarah Medley, Will South, Jon Mansell, Rhiana Froome, Ashley Hodak, Ash Mansell and youngster Jed Anson all having consistent almost flawless runs to receive podium results.
